Stage & Event Technician Based In The UK, Specialising In Lighting.

I regularly work at two busy venues in Ipswich as a Technician & Stage Manager often taking on a project management role within the venues. Taking the productions from the point of booking to performance.

Working alongside touring shows solving any problems to make the production happen whilst taking responsibility for the venue and in-house crew both before and on the day of the event.

The role involves various technical and backstage duties from initial contact dealing with advanced technical riders through to closing the truck doors post load out, working with the promoter, production managers, touring crew and performers throughout the day. I also regularly take on the roles of venue LX, designing and operating lighting as well as rigging and maintaining equipment as well as venue Sparks.

I also ensure all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, producing risk assessments, method statements & CDM documentation relevant to the production.

Both venues have a busy schedule of shows throughout the season ranging from international touring artists, bands and touring theatre to comedians and orchestras.

I also regularly work alongside the Theatre Royal - Bury St Edmund's technical team as a Theatre Technician. Giving technical assistance to both incoming and in-house productions.

I often work in a corporate environment providing support for a full technical package specialising in lighting. This has included working as a lighting technician for the annual Skoll World Forum and a range of BT events at their Global Headquarters for Research & Development including their regular international Innovation event.

Away from the stage I work with various event power companies installing & maintaining temporary production and site power systems for large outdoor events to BS7909 standard. This involves everything from power generation to end distribution to create a complete tested system ensuring a constant & safe supply. I have completed the C&G NA7909 course in Temporary Power Systems.

I have extensive experience & knowledge of shows & events at various venues, arenas and stadiums across the country. I have been involved with various large scale productions at venues such as Wembley Stadium, Twickenham Stadium, the O2 Arena and the SSE Arena.

Over the summer I join the UK festival circuit working large outdoor festivals and concerts including Reading Festival, V Festival, BBC Radio One's Big Weekend, Latitude and British Summer Time.

I have a large amount of experience with both Avolites and Chamsys lighting desks using a wide range of fixtures, from fully generic theatre rigs to the latest LED & moving light technology.

I am fully competent working at height and have training and experience climbing & using various access equipment, owning full working at height PPE and access equipment. I have completed the IPAF 3A & 3B.
